When a non-physician healthcare provider is the defendant or is called as a witness in a medical malpractice case, he or she will usually be called upon to give a deposition. At this point, the provider departs from the medical world he or she normally inhabits and enters a highly adversarial and often unfamiliar situation. This film is intended to serve as an adjunct to the advice and the preparation for deposition provided by the provider’s defense attorney. It contains examples of the types of questions to anticipate and the preferred responses. The non-physician healthcare providers and attorneys interviewed in this film draw from their personal experiences to convey what they’ve found to be the most important and helpful strategies in preparation for deposition and during the deposition itself.
