About the Requirements

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration has issued guidance on the requirements for eight-hours of training on opioid or other substance use disorders. The Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act requires all DEA-registered providers to complete this training.

Practitioners can satisfy this requirement by engaging in a total of eight hours of training on treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.

This training requirement must be completed before the practitioner’s next DEA registration submission (initial registration or renewal).
